Located in California, Death Valley National Park is known for its dramatic desert landscapes, vast salt flats, towering sand dunes, colorful rock formations, and spectacular night skies. This multi-day adventure combines outdoor exploration, hiking, sightseeing, and opportunities to connect with other members of the atheist and secular community.
Hiking, Stargazing, and Science Under the Stars
Atheists United’s atheist adventures feature a planned group sightseeing itinerary highlighting iconic park landmarks and hikes. Participants will also gather for a group dinner and a science presentation beneath the stars, making this trip a distinctive blend of outdoor recreation, science, and community.
Death Valley’s remote desert setting offers exceptional opportunities to observe the night sky and appreciate the scale of the Milky Way, weather and viewing conditions permitting.

Important Planning Information
Tickets do not include transportation, national park fees, meals, or camping equipment. Participants are responsible for bringing their own tents, sleeping bags, lights, coolers, and other necessary gear. The organizer does not recommend bringing pets because of Death Valley’s pet policies.
